PROBLEM
Creating new folders when browsing for data in a geoprocessing tool cause the tools to fail
Description

ArcGIS will allow the new folder to be specified as the location of the output data. However, the geoprocessing tool will fail.
Cause
ArcMap does not refresh before attempting to put data in folders created while browsing. Therefore ArcMap does not recognize the existence of folders create this way.
Solution or Workaround
The best practice is to create the folder using the Create Folder tool (Data Management Tools > Workspace) instead of making folders as you browse for input or output data.![[O-Image] CreateFolderPic](https://webapps-cdn.esri.com/CDN/support-site/technical-articles-images/000006940/00N39000003LL2C-0EM39000000wcp8.png)
