Cannot install ArcGIS 9 ArcObjects Desktop Developer kit

Description

When attempting to install the ArcGIS Desktop Developer kit for ArcGIS 9, an error may occur, stating that a previous version is installed. The previous version may not show up in the Windows Add/Remove programs interface.

Cause

Residual registry entries exist for the older version of the developer kit.

Remove the residual entries for ArcObjects Developer's Kit.
  1. Start the Windows Registry editor; click Start > Run, type 'regedit' and press Enter.
  2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\
  3. Beneath this folder, there are many folders with long, alphanumeric names. Find the folder named as follows:
    {52069752-B5E9-11D5-8110-00C04FA070E5}
  4. Remove this folder.
