When installing ArcGIS 9.0 the following error may occur:

Cause

Alta4 Image Mapper for ArcGIS 8.3 was not completely removed before installing ArcGIS 9.0.

Solution or Workaround

Follow these steps to completely remove necessary ArcGIS 8.3 programs before reinstalling ArcGIS 9.0.

1. Uninstall Alta4 ImageMapper.
2. Uninstall all components of ArcGIS 9.0 and ArcGIS 8.3 if they exist. These programs include: ArcGIS Desktop, ESRI Crystal Reports, ArcObjects Developer Kit, and ESRI Tutorial Data.
3. Delete the ArcGIS directory from C:\ArcGIS and C:\Program Files\ArcGIS if they exist.
4. Reboot.
5. Reinstall ArcGIS 9.0.
