Rotate point marker symbols in ArcMap

Procedure



  1. Add a point layer to ArcMap.
  2. Open the point layers attribute table.
  3. Select Options > Add Field.
  4. Create a new integer field.
  5. Select Start Editing from the Editor Toolbar.
  6. Type the appropriate rotation angle for each record in the new field.
  7. Once the desired records have been given an angle of rotation, select Stop Editing, save the edits and close the table.
  8. Double-click the name of the point layer and select the Symbology tab.
  9. Select Advanced > Rotation.
  10. Select the newly created field that contains the rotation values.
  11. Select the appropriate rotation style.
  12. Click OK twice to apply the settings and close all dialogs.
