Error: The map projection for layer doesn't match the current map projection
Error Message
After using the Get Data For ArcPad wizard to export layers that are projected on-the-fly and opening the exported .apm file in ArcPad the following error message is displayed:
"The map projection for layer '<layer name>' doesn't match the current map projection."
Cause
ArcPad does not support projection on-the-fly. The exported .apm file contains the projection of the data frame in ArcMap, while the exported layers contain the projections of their source data.
Solution or Workaround
There are two options:
- Use the Project geoprocessing tool in ArcToolbox > Data Mangement Tools > Projections and Transformations to re-project each layer that is projected on-the-fly to match the data frame's projection. Then reload the re-projected layers into ArcMap.
- In ArcMap, change the data frame's projection to match the projection of the layers that are projected on-the-fly.
