The background color of an ArcMap Service is lost

Description

When requesting an image from an ArcMap Service the background color set in ArcMap document is not displayed within the output image.

Cause

The background color of an ArcMap Service is dropped when a LEGEND request precedes the request for the map.

Solution or Workaround

This issue has been resolved in ArcIMS version 4.0.1.

For version 4.0 users, there is no workaround other than to refresh the ArcMap Service.
