How To: Uninstall Jakarta Tomcat 3.2.3 on Windows NT/2000/XP


Instructions provided are for uninstalling the Jakarta-Tomcat 3.2.3 servlet engine on Windows NT/2000/XP.

  1. Open the Services Panel.
  2. Stop any ArcIMS services such as ArcIMS Tasker, Monitor or Application Server.
  3. Stop the 'IIS Admin Service'.
  4. Find and stop the service called 'Jakarta' or 'Tomcat'.
  5. Open a command prompt window and navigate to the 'bin' directory of the jakarta-tomcat installation directory. For example, <drive>:\jakarta-tomcat-3.2.3\bin.
  6. A. If you have a file called TomcatService.exe in your Tomcat bin directory, type the following at the command prompt and press Enter:

    TomcatService -uninstall Jakarta (If you have a Jakarta Service)
    TomcatService -uninstall Tomcat (If you have a Tomcat Service)

    B. If, instead, you have a file named jk_nt_service.exe, then type the following at the command prompt and press Enter:

    jk_nt_service -r Jakarta (If you have a Jakarta Service)
    jk_nt_service -r Tomcat (If you have a Tomcat Service}

  7. In Windows Explorer, browse to your jakarta-tomcat installation directory. For example, <drive>:\jakarta-tomcat-3.2.3.
  8. Delete your jakarta-tomcat-3.2.3 installation directory.
  9. Open the Windows Registry Editor.

  10. With the left mouse button select the Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Apache Software Foundation.
  11. Right-click the selected key in Step 10 and click Delete.
  12. Close the Registry Editor.
