Error: Unable to Communicate with Application Server Error in Service Administrator

Error Message

An "unable to communicate with Application Server on WebServer" error is displayed when you use the ArcIMS Service Administrator and your ArcIMS Application Server is hosted on a different machine than your Web server.

Cause

The Service Administrator assumes the Application Server is hosted on the same machine as the Web server.

Solution or Workaround

When this error appears, the URL in your browser should be similar to:

http://WebServer/esriadmin/logincheck.jsp?host=WebServer&port=5300

Changing the host portion of the URL to match the name of the Application Server should resolve the issue. For instance, if the Application Server is on a machine named MyAppServer, then the URL would be:
