The ArcView application could not be opened because ArcViewLib could not be found

Error Message

Attempting to launch the ArcView application on a Macintosh returns:

"The ArcView application could not be opened because ArcViewLib could not be found"

Cause

The virtual memory is turned off.

Solution or Workaround

1. Select Control Panel > Memory from the Apple menu.
2. Click the radio button for 'On' under the Virtual Memory section.
3. Enter the total amount of memory.
   
   

   Note:
   The total amount of memory is equal to physical memory(RAM) as well as virtual memory.

   
   
4. Close the Memory dialog box.
5. Reboot the Macintosh.
