Run-time error "3011": The Microsoft Jet database engine could not find the object "nametoolong.dbf"

Error Message

After turning on the Report Writer extension and selecting 'Create a Report' from the Table menu and then selecting Quick Report, the following error occurs:

Run-time error "3011": The Microsoft Jet database engine could not find the object "nametoolong.dbf"

Cause

Quick Reports cannot use .dbf filenames longer than eight characters. This limitation lies in a Visual Basic control used in the Quick Reports form. All other report types can use .dbf files with names longer then eight characters.

Solution or Workaround

Note:
Make sure the object exists and that you spell its name and the path name correctly.
