Problem: ArcSDE 8.1 Java API: Polygons with reverse point ordering are not fixed when inserted into the database
When creating polygon shape objects using the Java application programming interface (API), the points composing the polygon can be ordered clockwise or counterclockwise. ArcSDE requires that all polygons stored internally have counterclockwise point ordering. ArcSDE 8.1 Java API does not correct the order of points before inserting them into the ArcSDE database.
This is a known issue with the ArcSDE 8.1 Java API.
Solution or Workaround
When using the ArcSDE 8.1 Java API to insert polygons, you must insert the polygons with the correct point order. This has been resolved at 8.1.2.
