PROBLEM

Image theme color distortion or slicing patterns

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Description

When images are added as themes to a view, they do not display properly. They have some stripping or other color distortions.

Cause

The monitor colors are most likely set to 256, which is too low for ArcView to display the images properly.

Solution or Workaround

Edit the properties for your display to increase the Color Palette setting.

  1. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel, and double-click the Display icon.

    Note:
You may, instead, put the cursor on the background of your desktop and right-click to access the Properties dialog box.

  2. Click the Settings tab.

  3. Change the Color Palette drop down list to a setting higher than 256.
