Failed to evaluate the calculator equation

Error Message

Running the POINTDENSITY Spatial Analyst function in the Raster Calculator on a coverage produces this error:

"Failed to evaluate the calculator equation."

Cause

Coverages are not supported in the Raster Calculator.

Solution or Workaround

• Use the Density Spatial Analyst dialog box, or the GRID prompt in Workstation.
• Alternatively, convert the coverage to a shapefile and use this in the Raster Calculator:
  
  1. Right-click the coverage in the table of contents of ArcMap.
  2. Click Data.
  3. Click Export Data.
