Error opening convert file

Error Message

This error occurs while attempting to geocode using the Geocoding Developer's Kit:

"Error opening convert file"

Cause

You are using an older us_addr.pat and/or us_intsc.pat file from ArcView 2.1.

Solution or Workaround

1. Remove the following four lines.
   
   

   \POST_START 
   SOUNDEX {SN} {XS} 
   RSOUNDEX {SN} {XR} 
   \POST_END 

   
   
2. Re-encode the files using ENCODPAT as directed by the Geocoding Developer's Kit. All of the other pattern edits will work fine.
