Decrease drawing time for large shapefiles and/or SDE layers

Summary

ArcView draws each feature in a shapefile or SDE layer as it cycles through the data retrieving the shape features associated with each queried record. The more records ArcView has to cycle through, the longer the access and drawing times.

Esri has developed a method deemed Turbo Layers for SDE administrators to increase draw time for SDE layers.
