BUG

Divide an edge feature with the orphan junction feature class as the target layer produces features with null geometry

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Description

With the target layer set to the Orphan junction feature class, select an edge feature and issue the divide command.

Following the divide operation, the selected set will contain orphan junctions. Trying to move any of the resulting junctions will raise the error:

"The feature(s) could not be moved"
"The operation was attempted on an empty geometry"

Note:
ArcGIS 8.1 will only exhibit this problem if Service Pack 1 has been installed.

Cause

This is a known issue.

Workaround

Remove network features with an empty or null geometry. See the online help for information describing the procedure.

Note:
Be certain to run the Verify Network Feature Geometry command on the entire orphan junction feature class.
