How To: Repair a broken link for a layer based on an image service
If you open a map containing an image service, and you notice the layer is grayed out and has a red exclamation mark next to it in the ArcMap table of contents (TOC), the image service has a broken link. Two of the methods typically used to repair a broken data link for layers in ArcMap are unavailable for image services. There is no Data Source menu item in the image service layer context menu, nor is there a button on the Source tab of image service Layer Property pages.
Use the most common and straightforward link repair method:
- Click the red exclamation mark next to the layer in the TOC.
- In the Data Source dialog box, navigate to the appropriate data source.
- Select the data and click OK.
