FAQ: Why Do Route Coverages Edited in ArcMap Contain Additional Sections after Saving Edit

Answer

When a coverage route is edited, it is turned into a polyline with measures. Saving the edits will turn the polylines back into arcs and sections. When sections are created, they are broken where a constant length/measure ratio is not preserved.
