Cannot start Crystal Reports from the ArcView Report Tool

Description

Attempting to start ArcView's QuickReport tool does not start Crystal Reports. This behavior occurs after installing ArcGIS 8.1 with Crystal Reports 8.0.

Cause

The Crystal Reports 8.0 installation mistakenly places quotes around the shell/open command in the registry.

Solution or Workaround



Start Crystal Reports from the shortcut in Start > Programs > Seagate Crystal Reports. Once Crystal Reports has been started, the shell/open command entry is automatically repaired. Thereafter, the report tool in ArcView 3.2 can start Crystal Reports.
