PROBLEM

When changing between locales on Windows 2000, characters don't display or queries don't work

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Description

When changing between locales on Windows 2000, characters don't display or queries don't work.

Cause

If your system's default locale (Operating System) is English_US, and you change the locale to Chinese and restart ArcIMS, all ArcIMS Services that start use the English_US (system default locale) as the default locale. For this reason, Chinese characters may not show up properly or queries may not work as expected.

Solution or Workaround

After logging onto the system, Stop and Start your web server. Then the ArcIMS Services will use the changed user's default locale (Chinese).

This solution is necessary only if the native locale of your Operating System is different from the locale you are using.
