Why does my raster catalog not show when navigating to its location in the Set Data Source browse dialog box?

Answer

This is a known issue with ArcGIS 8.1. A workaround is to click the red exclamation mark icon that appears to the left of the layer name in the table of contents. This will bring up a browse dialog box that will allow you to reconnect the raster catalog layer to its data source.
