Cause

ArcInfo Workstation commands for working with coverages, GRIDs, TINs, shapefiles, or dBASE tables don't support paths names that contain space characters. Since these commands are used by many ArcGIS tools, this limitation applies to them as well.

Solution or Workaround

  • When the path name contains space characters: copy your data to a new workspace that does not have a space characters in its path name.
  • When the dataset has a space character in its name: rename the dataset to eliminate the space.
