Problem: Cannot restore features deleted from the DEFAULT version
When editing ArcSDE layers in ArcMap, features that are deleted from the DEFAULT version, or any other version for that matter, cannot be undeleted after saving edits.
There is no method to restore deleted features back into a version. This is a known limitation with versioning.
Solution or Workaround
You can get around this limitation by doing one of the following:
- Don't edit the DEFAULT version directly. Instead, create a new version for editing. If features are accidentally deleted, you can copy them from the DEFAULT version and paste them into the edited version.
- You can reload the deleted features into the feature class from their original source (shapefiles, coverages, and so forth).
