Error: MKDB Returns 'Unable to Create Database at Location'

Error Message

Attempting to create an ArcStorm database with MKDB causes:

C:\asdatabases>mkdb testdb aspestos
Unable to create database at location c:\asdatabases\testdb.
Database location is not an NTFS format file system.

Cause

ArcStorm only supports NTFS disks; therefore, databases cannot be created on FAT drives.

Solution or Workaround

To check the type of drive you are attempting to create a database on:

Select the drive letter in Windows Explorer > Right-click > Select Properties > General Tab.

File System: will be described as either FAT or NTFS.
