PROBLEM

Tables created from a SQL connection to Access queries show fields but no records

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Description

Tables added to a project via an SQL connection to an Access query are empty. The tables have all the appropriate fields but no records are present.

Cause

ODBC drivers may have trouble reading queries constructed using non-standard query syntax.

Solution or Workaround

  • Option 1: Use standard syntax to build the Access query.

  • Option 2: Export the Access query as a dBase IV table and add it to ArcView as a regular table.

    Warning:
This method severs the live link between the database and the ArcView table.
