Invalid Transparent Mode During Multi Band Display

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Error Message

Printing to a PostScript printer, exporting to a PostScript file, or running ArcPress from ArcView returns:

Invalid Transparent Mode During Multi Band Display

Cause

File contains grid themes symbolized with transparent grid cells and a brightness theme.

Solution or Workaround

  • Preferred solution: Change all transparent grid cell classifications to solid white.
Open the legend editor for the grid theme, double click the symbol for the transparent classification and then select white from the color palette.

[O] Set grid classification to white
  • Alternate solution: If printing directly to the printer in Windows, use the 'Native OS' PostScript Interface
Select 'Print' from the 'File' menu and then choose 'Native OS' as the 'PostScript Interface'. If the PostScript Interface section is not available, then your current printer in ArcView is not PostScript.

[O] Print with Native OS PostScript
or install the non-PostScript printer driver for your printer.
  • Alternate solution: Do not use a brightness theme.
