Problem: Cannot Install the Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) Files

Solution or Workaround

While installing Atlas GIS, the initial startup offers 4 choices:

- Atlas GIS Program Files
- Tutorial Files
- Data Starter Kit
- ODBC files

The ODBC files box is greyed out.

Cause:

Some of the system files may be missing or may be in the wrong location.

Solution:

To enable this option, make sure the following files are located in the Windows system directory:

      sming04.dll
      sminf04.dll
      sminf504.dll

For Windows 95, these files should be located in the \Win95\system folder.

For Windows NT, these files should be located in the \WinNT\system32 folder.

If you upgraded your operating system from Windows 3.x, the upgrade may have caused the misplacement of these files. If this is the case, reinstall Atlas GIS under the new system.
