HOW TO

Split existing arcs and preserve COGO attributes

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Procedure

Summary:

The user wants to split certain arcs in a COGO coverage. How can this be accomplished?

Solution:

Use the COGO commands BREAKLINE or PROPORTION in ARCEDIT. BREAKLINE and PROPORTION allow the user to break arcs using a specified distance. AAT distance values are updated when using BREAKLINE or PROPORTION.

In addition, the COGOCHECK command allows a user to use non-COGO commands such as SPLIT to break arcs. When COGOCHECK is in UPDATE mode, the DISTANCE attributes will automatically be updated with the new distance values. If the BLANK option is used with COGOCHECK, and the arcs are split with non-COGO commands, the COGO attributes are left BLANK and COGOINVERSE will need to be used to update the COGO attributes.
