Problem: Some functionality of the Business Analyst Online web app may not work in Google Chrome

While signed into Business Analyst Web, some functionality does not work. Boundaries do not appear, or when clicking on Color-Coded Maps, the side panel does not appear. Individual user experience may vary, but if this unexpected behavior is experienced, where some tools or functions fail to work, the following solution may alleviate these problems.

There are two possible causes for this problem that may involve the Google Chrome configuration:

  • Chrome settings are not updated and/or cleared.
  • The Chrome version is not up-to-date and must be updated by a system administrator.

Solution or Workaround

It is a recommended practice to test the application on other browsers and/or other machines to see if the issue is reproducible. If all browsers and other machines inside and outside the network experience the same issue, it is likely that the problem has something to do with the Business Analyst application. However, if other browsers and machines work, it is likely that the problem has something to do with the specific browser and machine. If so, use the following steps to correct the browser settings.

  1. Log out of Business Analyst Web while in Chrome.
  2. In the top right of the browser window, click the Customize and control Google Chrome menu (the hamburger icon).
  3. Click More Tools > Clear browsing data.
  4. In the Clear browsing data dialog of the Settings page, select the following options:
    • Browsing history
    • Cached images and files
  5. Click Clear browsing data.
  6. While still on the Chrome Settings page, click About, and ensure that Google Chrome is up-to-date. If not updated, a prompt may appear for an administrator login.
This is dependent on how the system and security are set up.
Chrome may update automatically, or an administrator login may be required.
