[statistics, social GIS]
A unit of United States census geography that is composed of one or more census blocks and is a subdivision of a census tract. A block group generally contains 600-3,000 residents. Unlike a tribal block group, a census block group will not cross census tract, county, or state boundaries. A zero value block group indicates water-only.
