This Patch is now obsolete. It has been superceded by the ArcGIS 9.0 Service Pack 2.Description
This Patch is now obsolete. It has been superceded by the ArcGIS 9.0 Service Pack 2.
ESRI® is pleased to announce the ArcGIS Desktop 9.0 ArcMap Open-Map-Document
Patch. This Patch addresses an issue where customers who have map documents
saved with the Page Setup option 'Same as Printer' turned on may experience
problems when opening these documents in ArcMap 9.0. It deals specifically with
the issues listed below under Issues Addressed with this Patch.
We recommend that all ArcGIS 9.0 customers, who have saved ArcMap 8.x map documents with the 'Same as Printer' Page Setup command need to download and install this patch at their earliest convenience to ensure the highest quality experience when working with ArcGIS Desktop 9.0.
CQ00242131 - Maps saved same as printer in 8.3 not openly correctly in 9.0.
The main issue is:
Users who have map documents saved with the Page Setup option 'Same as Printer'
turned on may experience problems when opening these documents in ArcMap 9.0.
These problems may include the page setting to switch from the printer saved
with the map document to the default printer on the user's workstation and
even scaling the entire map to that default printer's default page size if
the 'Scale map elements...' was turned on when the map document was saved.
The issue is that ArcMap 9.0 does not properly sense which version of the software the map document was saved in. ArcMap 9.0 has several improvements with the handling of opening map documents with 'Same as Printer', or 'Use Printer Paper Settings' as it is called in 9.0 and therefore, needs to properly switch between reading 8.x saved map documents and reading 9.0 saved map documents.
This patch enables ArcMap to properly sense which version (8.x or 9.0) the map document was saved in and switches ArcMap to the correct opening sequence to properly open the map document.
