ArcGIS GeoEvent Server 10.6 Patch 3

Summary

This patch includes enhancements and addresses issues, including multiple security vulnerabilities found in log4j distributed with ArcGIS GeoEvent Server. Esri recommends that all customers using ArcGIS GeoEvent Server 10.6 apply this patch.

Description

  • You must clear the browser cache after this patch is installed to properly load the updated GeoEvent Manager User Interface.
  • ArcGIS GeoEvent Server 10.6 must be installed before you can install this patch.
  • It is recommended to create a backup of your GeoEvent Server configuration prior to installation of the patch.
  • ArcGIS GeoEvent Server Patches cannot be uninstalled. To roll back a patch requires a fresh install of GeoEvent Server.

Enhancements and Issues Addressed with this Patch

  • BUG-000145348 - Update GeoEvent Server to replace unpatched Log4j libraries.

  • To avoid conflicts with previous releases and patches, the following issues are also addressed with this patch:

  • BUG-000120348 - Stream Services encountering dropped events and instability when processing high complexity or high velocity data streams.
  • BUG-000118323 - Event throughput degradation.
  • BUG-000119717 - GeoEvent Service validation fails to catch loops in the service event processing pipeline.
  • BUG-000109318 - Unable to connect the data store connection in ArcGIS GeoEvent manager to a portal configured with a Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) authentication.
  • BUG-000114374 - Service Discovery taking longer to re-sync with 10.6.0 release.
  • BUG-000117250 - Stream Service GeoFence Sync Rule does not start IF the layer is not ready in the DataStore Cache.
  • BUG-000117249 - System instability observed when using stream services to synchronize geofences.
  • BUG-000117248 - GeoEvent won't stop promptly when there is a sync rule configured using stream service.
  • BUG-000114349 - ArcGIS GeoEvent Manager fails to load in Chrome 67.
  • BUG-000112836 - Specifying an incorrect geometry field results in null pointer exceptions when consuming GeoFences.
  • BUG-000107723 - Hierarchical GeoEvent Definitions cannot be edited and saved in GeoEvent Manager 10.6.
  • BUG-000111776 - ArcGIS GeoEvent Server unable to apply edits to nested values in definitions created from extensible markup language (XML) input sources.
  • BUG-000114373 - Websocket Connection to Stream Services do not all get data in a multi-machine setting.
  • BUG-000114528 - Incorrectly calculated number of Kafka brokers prevents proper starting and stopping of components.
  • BUG-000114696 - Simulator application unable to parse CSV files with more than 10,000 character strings.
  • BUG-000114698 - Logger application unable to render event output with more than 10,000 character strings.
  • BUG-000114699 - Simulator application does not proper refresh the user interface when selecting a different host in the connections hosts combo-box.

Installation Instructions for Windows

    Note: Any changes made to the configuration or property files in GeoEvent/etc or GeoEvent/gateway/etc will need to be reapplied to the new files after the patch is installed. The patch will overwrite the files in these locations.

  1. Login with an Administrator Windows account.

  2. Download the patch to a location other than your ArcGIS installation location.
  3.   Checksum (Sha256)
    ArcGISGeoEvent_106_Patch3.exe 5bcff608281860a9a0440a3d8f0e7c6f0901cf7331e76aad5635023cb43f3e68

  4. Double-click ArcGISGeoEvent_106_Patch3.exe to extract the GeoEvent 10.6 Patch 3 windows setup.

  5. Browse to the extraction location and double-click Setup.exe to launch the setup program.

  6. Open the GeoEvent Manager to ensure your inputs, outputs, and GeoEvent Services have been started. If they are not, restart them in the GeoEvent Manager.

Installation Instructions for Linux

    Note: Any changes made to the configuration or property files in GeoEvent/etc or GeoEvent/gateway/etc will need to be reapplied to the new files after the patch is installed. The patch will overwrite the files in these locations.

  1. Log in as the user that installed ArcGIS Server.
    Note: For the Amazon AMI this is the user arcgis.

  2. Download the patch to a location other than your ArcGIS installation location.
  3.   Checksum (SHA256)
    GeoEvent-10.6.0-Patch3.tar.gz 4f4957d635f1450223bb3e122ca364f246448c46160807c8c3599f1233d2671c

  4. Extract the package:
    % tar -xzvf GeoEvent-10.6.0-Patch3.tar.gz

  5. Stop the GeoEvent daemon services.

  6. Start the installation and wait for it to complete:
    % ./GeoEvent/Patch.sh

  7. Delete the contents of the GeoEvent Server data folder.
  8. % rm -rf /GeoEvent/data/*

  9. After the setup is complete, restart the GeoEvent daemon services.

  10. Open the GeoEvent Manager to ensure your inputs, outputs, and GeoEvent Services have been started. If they are not, restart them in the GeoEvent Manager.

How to identify which ArcGIS products are installed

To determine which ArcGIS products are installed, choose the appropriate version of the PatchFinder utility for your environment and run it from your local machine. PatchFinder will list products, hot fixes, and patches installed on your local machine.

To determine which version of ArcGIS GeoEvent Server is installed append /version.txt to the GeoEvent Manager URL. For example:

    https://localhost:6143/geoevent/manager/version.txt
