ArcGIS Insights 2020.1 Update Patch

Summary

This is a required patch for ArcGIS Insights users wanting to upload file geodatabases in ArcGIS Insights in ArcGIS Enterprise. Without this patch Insights will return the following error: “The file type is invalid. Choose a supported file type and try again”. This patch is also required for ArcGIS Insights users wanting to display legend information in combo charts or show popup information on the arcs of chord diagrams in ArcGIS Insights in Enterprise and ArcGIS Insights desktop. And without this, legends for combo charts are blank and chord diagrams do not display popups on the chord arcs.



Description

Esri® announces the ArcGIS Insights 2020.1 Update Patch. This patch resolves an issue on ArcGIS Insights in ArcGIS Enterprise when trying to upload a geodatabase. Without this patch Insights will return the following error: “The file type is invalid. Choose a supported file type and try again”. This is, therefore, a required patch for Insights in ArcGIS Enterprise users wanting to upload geodatabase data.

This patch also resolves issues for ArcGIS Insights when displaying legend information for combo charts or displaying popup information on the arcs of chord diagrams. And without this, legend information for combo charts are blank and popup information is not displayed on the arcs of chord diagrams. This is, therefore, a required patch for Insights in ArcGIS Enterprise and Insights Desktop users wanting to show legend information for combo charts or display popup information on the arcs of chord diagrams.

This patch deals specifically with the issues listed below under Issues Addressed with this patch.



Issues Addressed with this patch


  • BUG-000128764 - An error message is returned when uploading file geodatabases to ArcGIS Insights Enterprise.
  • BUG-000129177 - Popup information is not displaying for arcs on chord diagrams.
  • BUG-000129179 - Legend tab is empty in the combo chart.
  • BUG-000129181 - Statistic type is not localized in the summary table.
  • BUG-000129239 - Cannot create/open workbooks once Postgres processes are orphaned.

 

Download the appropriate file to a location other than your ArcGIS Insights installation location.

Installing this patch on ArcGIS Insights Enterprise

Installing this patch on Windows

 

Installation Steps:

 

ArcGIS Insights Enterprise 2020.1 must be installed before installing this patch.

  1. Download the appropriate file to a location other than your ArcGIS Insights installation location.
  2. Make sure you have write access to your ArcGIS Insights Enterprise installation location.
  3. Double-click ArcGIS-20201-IFA-U-Patch.msp to start the setup process.

    NOTE: If double clicking on the MSP file does not start the setup installation, you can start the setup installation manually by using the following command:

    msiexec.exe /p [location of Patch]\ArcGIS-20201-IFA-U-Patch.msp

 

Installing this patch on Linux

 

Installation Steps:

 

Complete the following install steps as the ArcGIS Install owner. The Install owner is the owner of the arcgis folder.

ArcGIS Insights Enterprise 2020.1 must be installed before installing this patch.

  1. Download the appropriate file to a location other than your ArcGIS Insights installation location.
  2. Make sure you have write access to your ArcGIS Insights Enterprise installation location, and that no one is using ArcGIS Insights.
  3. Extract the specified tar file by typing:

    % tar -xvf ArcGIS-20201-IFA-U-Patch-linux.tar

  4. Start the installation by typing:

    % ./applypatch

    This will start the dialog for the menu-driven installation procedure. Default selections are noted in parentheses ( ). To quit the installation procedure, type 'q' at any time.

Installing ArcGIS Insights Desktop


Installing this patch on Windows

Installation Steps:


ArcGIS Insights 2020.1 must be installed before installing this patch.

  1.  Download the appropriate file(s) to a location other than your ArcGIS Insights Desktop installation location.
  2.  Make sure you have write access to your ArcGIS Insights Desktop installation location.
  3.  Double-click ArcGIS-20201-IFADT-U-Patch.msp to start the setup process.
    NOTE: If double clicking on the MSP file does not start the setup installation, you can start the setup installation manually by using the following command:

    msiexec.exe /p [location of Patch]\ArcGIS-20201-IFADT-U-Patch.msp

Installing this patch on Apple MacOS


Installation Steps:


  1. Download the ArcGIS-20201-IFADT-U-Patch-mac.dmg and InsightsDesktopHelpLP_2020.1.1.dmg file to your local machine.
  2. Double click the ArcGIS-20201-IFADT-U-Patch-mac.dmg file to extract the setup files.
  3. Double click the .pkg file to launch the setup. The install wizard will open. Follow the instructions in the wizard.
  4. Follow the same instructions for the InsightsDesktopHelpLP_2020.1.1.dmg file.

Uninstalling this patch on Windows


  • To uninstall this patch on Windows, open the Windows Control Panel and navigate to installed programs. Make sure that "View installed updates" (upper left side of the Programs and Features dialog) is active. Select the patch name from the programs list and click Uninstall to remove the patch.

Uninstalling this patch on Linux


  • To remove this patch, navigate to the /tmp directory and run the following script as the ArcGIS Install owner:

    ./patchremove

    Notes: You can only remove the patch that was installed most recently.

Uninstalling this patch on Apple MacOS


Note: Uninstalling the Apple MacOS version of this patch will uninstall the entire ArcGIS Insights Product.

  1. Open the Finder window and click Applications.
  2. Locate the program to be removed.
  3. Drag the program to the Trash.
  4. Empty the Trash to permanently remove the application.
