Introduction
Esri® announces the ArcGIS 10.3.1 for (Desktop, Engine, Server) Geocoding General Maintenance Patch. This patch addresses performance and stability issues when geocoding with ArcGIS for Desktop, Engine and Server. It deals specifically with the issues listed below under Issues Addressed with this patch.
Issues Addressed with this patch
- BUG-000089702 - Add the ability to switch a locator to use the DisplayX and DisplayY values instead of the X and Y values for PointAddress locators.
- BUG-000089445 - Intermittent crash for geocode services when using suggestions.
- BUG-000089437 - Performance issues with locators built with suggestions enabled.
- BUG-000088955 - ArcMap may exit when a locator is built with only one feature.
- BUG-000088672 - Performance issues when geocoding with large locators in ArcMap 10.3.1.
- BUG-000087115 - CreateAddressLocator tool may fail when building some locators with suggestions.
- BUG-000087051 - Batch Geocoding large number of addresses cause the .lox files to cache within the system memory and never release when Geocoding is complete.
Installing this patch on Windows
Installation Steps:
ArcGIS 10.3.1 for Desktop, Engine or Server must be installed before installing this patch.
- Download the appropriate file to a location other than your ArcGIS installation location.
- Make sure you have write access to your ArcGIS installation location.
- Double-click ArcGIS-<Version>-<Product>-GGM-Patch.msp to start the setup process.
NOTE: If double clicking on the MSP file does not start the setup installation, you can start the setup installation manually by using the following command:
msiexec.exe /p [location of Patch]\ArcGIS-<Version>-<Product>-GGM-Patch.msp

Installing this patch on Linux
Installation Steps:
Complete the following install steps as the ArcGIS Install owner. The Install owner is the owner of the arcgis folder.
ArcGIS 10.3.1 for for Engine or Server must be installed before installing this patch.
- Download the appropriate file to a location other than your ArcGIS installation location.

- Make sure you have write access to your ArcGIS installation location, and that no one is using ArcGIS.
- Extract the specified tar file by typing:
% tar -xvf ArcGIS-<Version>-<Product>-GGM-Patch-lx.tar
- Start the installation by typing:
% ./applypatch
This will start the dialog for the menu-driven installation procedure. Default selections are noted in parentheses ( ). To quit the installation procedure, type 'q' at any time.

How to identify which ArcGIS products are installed
To determine which ArcGIS products are installed, choose the appropriate version of the PatchFinder utility for your environment and run it from your local machine. PatchFinder will list all products, hot fixes, and patches installed on your local machine.
