The download contains documentation and scripts that guide you through the setup of replication of your spatial data using either multimaster synchronous replication or read-only snapshot replication. Due to the complexity of Oracle Advanced replication, the documentation and scripts contained in this download should be reviewed and implemented by an experienced Oracle Database Administrator familiar with Oracle Advanced Replication. Some customization is required to convert the scripts to run at your site. Please read the notes below before you begin downloading this file.
These scripts are provided as a guide to setting up Oracle8i advanced replication with ArcSDE 8.1. As such they are not a supported part of the ArcSDE 8.1 product.
- The download for replication is only for those ArcSDE 8.1 for Oracle 8i users who wish to use Oracle's replication services in conjunction with spatial data stored as type LOB.
- The installation of Oracle 8.1.7 is required to avoid bugs found in previous versions of Oracle 8i related to the replication of the LOB datatype. If you intend to create and replicate more than 256 snapshots using read-only snapshot replication, then you must acquire patch 1721870 from Oracle Corporation. If this patch is not installed, the Oracle database, serving as the read-only snapshot site, will core dump during the first snapshot refresh if more than 256 snapshots are present in the snapshot group.
- Asynchronous multimaster replication and updateable snapshot replication cannot be used with a versioned geodatabase, as use of these types of replication will corrupt the chronological sequence of the state-tree model.
