Bug

When first opening a tabbed Story Map Series application with many tabs containing large and complex layers, some of the layers in other tabs intermittently time out and do not display when the tab is accessed.

Additional Information

Showing large, complex layers at full scale is not a best practice when using Story Maps for storytelling. To improve the map design, use methods such as scale dependencies and caching.

Workaround

Option 1: Obtain the URL for the web map, and add the web map URL as a webpage in the application. However, this option causes the entire map viewer to load.Option 2: Create multiple Basic Viewer applications (one for each map) to appear as a tab, and add the Basic Viewer application URL as a webpage in the application.
