Bug BUG-000097643
Synopsis
Thumbnails viewed in the AppStudio for ArcGIS Map Tour template appear blurry when using the Story Map creation method of uploading pictures to ArcGIS Online.
Additional Information
The issue described here is to do with the use of the story map creation tool and in that tool, there are choices that can be made, that eliminate the problem. When you choose to upload your images to ArcGIS Online, you can choose to upload the image at the original size or resize it. You can also nominate a different image for the thumbnail. If you wish to use the same image (or perhaps cropped version of the image) as the thumbnail you should prepare a file for this purpose before uploading it. The map tour template honors different images defined for the full size image and the thumbnail.
Alternate Solution
1. When creating the Story Map, utilize a photo sharing site like Flickr or use images shared on your own website. This prevents the images from being resized when being uploaded to ArcGIS Online.
2. In the Data tab of the feature services Item Details page, alter the url of the thumbnail URL value to match the picture URL. Keep in mind that this may affect the performance of the Story Map application and AppStudio native application when being viewed on a phone.
