When a KML or KMZ layer is added to an ArcGIS Online organization as an item from the computer and not as an item from the web, the layer is not visible in Explorer for ArcGIS on Android. Explorer for ArcGIS shows an error stating that it failed to open the layer.

Workaround

Add the KML layer as an item from the web. For this to work, users need the URL path to the specific KML layer. For example, www.arcgis.com/KMLSample.kml.
