In ArcGIS for Desktop 10.2.2, the second export of a map document (.mxd) (with identical data, with symbol levels enabled on a group layer, data driven pages enabled and using a layout template) to PDF using the Python window crashes ArcMap.

This issue is addressed in 10.3.

Workaround

Upgrade to ArcGIS for Desktop 10.3. OR Open a new .mxd from the start menu rather than File > New.
