PROBLEM

Unable to export a feature class to an enterprise geodatabase in ArcGIS Pro

Last Published: August 12, 2022

Description

ArcGIS Pro allows exporting a feature class to a geodatabase using the Feature Class To Geodatabase tool. In certain cases, exporting a feature class to an enterprise geodatabase using the Feature Class To Geodatabase tool fails, and returns the following error messages:

Error:
000210: Cannot create output <output_directory>.
Error:
160227: The application is not licensed to perform this operation
Failed to execute (CopyFeatures).
The error messages returned when running the Feature Class To Geodatabase tool

Cause

ArcGIS Pro is running on an ArcGIS Pro Basic license. The ArcGIS Pro Basic license does not allow editing or altering enterprise geodatabases. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Multiuser Editing and Advanced Data Management for more information.

Solution or Workaround

Upgrade the license to an ArcGIS Pro Standard or Advanced license

In ArcGIS Pro, upgrade the ArcGIS Pro Basic license to a Standard or Advanced license to allow exporting the feature class to the enterprise geodatabase. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: ArcGIS Pro license levels for more information.

Export the feature class to a file geodatabase

Alternatively, the ArcGIS Pro Basic license allows exporting the feature class to a file geodatabase in ArcGIS Pro to create a geodatabase feature class. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Copy multiple feature classes for instructions.

Note:
Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Types of geodatabases for more information regarding the different types of geodatabases.
