Problem: The Take Photo and Attach Options Are Unavailable in ArcGIS Field Maps

Description

In the ArcGIS Field Maps app, organization members with sufficient privileges can edit and update editable layers in web maps. In some instances, the Take Photo and Attach options are unavailable when attempting to edit a feature, as shown in the image below.

The TAKE PHOTO and ATTACH options are unavailable when attempting to edit a feature in the ArcGIS Field Maps Android app.

Cause

This issue occurs because attachments are disabled for the web map layer which contains the feature.

Solution or Workaround

To resolve the issue, follow the steps below to enable layer attachments in ArcGIS Online and relaunch the ArcGIS Field Maps app.

In ArcGIS Online, navigate to Content > My Content.
Browse to the web map.
On the web map item details page, under Layers, click the hosted feature layer.

The item details page of the web map shows the relevant information including the names of the hosted feature layers used in the web map.

On the hosted feature layer item details page, under Layers, click the layer name.

The item details page of the hosted feature layer shows the relevant information including the names of the layers used.

Under Attachments, turn on Enable Attachments.

The option to turn on attachments for the layer is available by toggling on Enable Attachments under Attachments.

Relaunch the ArcGIS Field Maps app and open the web map. When editing the layer, the Take Photo and Attach options are available, allowing the user to attach files to individual features.
