PROBLEM

The search result or feature attribute pop-up is not displayed in ArcGIS Web AppBuilder when using the Near Me widget

Last Published: March 9, 2021

Description

In ArcGIS Web AppBuilder, the Near Me widget enables users to find features within a buffer of a defined address or location. When defining an address or location, the 'Search result' or 'Searched Location' pop-up window is displayed on the map.

Sometimes, the search result pop-up is not displayed for the found feature or location when defining a feature or location using the Near Me widget.

The pop-up for the found feature is not displayed on the map.

There are instances where users attempt to use the ‘Set location’ button in the Near Me widget to set a location on the map, but clicking the map fails, and a return message is displayed, 'Popups are not configured, results cannot be displayed.'

Pop-ups fail to display on the map, and returns a message, “Popups are not configured, results cannot be displayed.”

In a situation where the ‘Set location’ dialog box displays next to the cursor when hovering over the map, clicking the map only displays the Searched Location pop-up window. Users are unable to display the feature attribute pop-up window by clicking a feature on the map when the Near Me widget is active.

The Set location dialog box displays next to the cursor when hovering over the map.
Clicking the map only displays the Searched Location pop-up window.

Cause

The following are known causes for the issue:

  • The search result pop-up fails to display when the ‘Show pop-up for the found feature or location’ check box is not checked.
  • The return message is displayed when pop-ups are not enabled at the web map level, or the selected search layer configured in the Near Me widget settings does not have pop-ups configured.
  • The feature attribute pop-ups do not display when the ‘Set location’ button is not enabled in the Near Me widget.

Solution or Workaround

Depending on the cause, use one of the options below to resolve the issue.

Configure the Near Me widget settings to enable the Set location button

In ArcGIS Web AppBuilder, check the Set location button check box to provide a button to set the location on the map instead of only setting the location when the map is clicked. This enables users to click a feature on the map to view its feature attribute pop-up when the Near Me widget is active.

Note:
By default, the Set location button check box in the Near Me widget settings is unchecked. A Set location dialog box displays next to the cursor when the Near Me widget is active, and clicking the map only displays the Searched Location pop-up window.

  2. On the Widget tab, hover over the Near Me widget, and click Configure this widget.
