An image appears on the form preview in the ArcGIS Survey123 Connect application but does not appear on the published survey form

Description

After adding an image question in the ArcGIS Survey123 Connect application, the image appears on the form preview, but does not appear on the published survey in the ArcGIS Survey123 web app.

Cause

This issue may occur when:

• The image file name contains spaces or special characters. Refer to FAQ: What characters should not be used in ArcGIS for field names and table names? for more information.

• The image file name in the .xlsx sheet does not match the file name in the media folder.

Solution or Workaround

Depending on the cause, use one of the following solutions to resolve this issue, and republish the survey.

Note:
Updating and republishing the survey does not affect the existing data.

Remove the spaces and special characters from the image name in the media folder

1. In the ArcGIS Survey123 Connect application, click the survey content folder.

2. Open the media folder, and locate the image.

3. Remove the spaces and special characters from the image name.

4. Navigate to the .xlsx form, and insert the new image name.

5. Save the .xlsx form.
6. Navigate to ArcGIS Survey123 Connect, and republish the survey.

Copy the file name in the media folder and paste it in the .xlsx sheet

1. In the media folder, right-click the file name, and click Properties.
2. Copy the file name, and click OK to close the Properties window.

3. Paste the file name in the media::image column in the .xlsx sheet.
4. Save the .xlsx sheet, and republish the survey form.

To view the published survey form, click the Show online survey item icon . The image now appears below the question.
