Hierarchical Routes In ArcGIS Network Analyst White Paper

Hierarchical algorithms are useful for quickly finding routes on large networks. The Network Analyst extension includes a hierarchical algorithm that can be used on network datasets built with a hierarchy attribute. The goal of this paper is to describe the best practices for building hierarchical network datasets and to provide information on how to use the hierarchical algorithm effectively.
