Patches and updates
ArcGIS GeoBIM Enterprise 11.2.1 Update
Summary
ArcGIS GeoBIM released on ArcGIS Enterprise 11.2 in February 2024.
ArcGIS GeoBIM depends on Autodesk’s APIs to link GIS features in ArcGIS to BIM, CAD, and other engineering documents in Autodesk Construction Cloud and Autodesk BIM 360.
On June 13, 2024, Autodesk will retire the current version of its Authentication (OAuth) API for necessary security improvements. This API is used to provide ArcGIS GeoBIM users with access to the latest engineering project documentation.
To continue using ArcGIS GeoBIM, users will need to download the ArcGIS GeoBIM 11.2.1 executable file from My Esri and reinstall it on their ArcGIS Enterprise 11.2 deployment before June 13th.
Enhancements and Issues addressed with this mandatory update
This update is provided as a standard setup file for Windows or Linux from My Esri that replaces the currently installed application. There will be no changes to services, data, or items in the portal.
The change will take effect on June 13, 2024. From this date forward, the current version of ArcGIS GeoBIM on ArcGIS Enterprise 11.2 will no longer have access to Autodesk BIM and CAD content.
- The update migrates from V1 to V2 of the Autodesk Authentication (OAuth) API.
- The viewer url link rule based on the SharedView field correctly highlights matching model elements in DWG, RVT, and IFC files.
Installing this patch on Windows and Linux
Note: The update will uninstall the currently installed ArcGIS GeoBIM application. As a result, the autodesk.json file will be removed. For convenience, backup the autodesk.json file in the apps/geobim folder before installing the update, then restore it to the same location after the reinstall. The Portal for ArcGIS service account will need to be restarted per Setup ArcGIS GeoBIM installation instructions.
Otherwise, edit the file to update their client ID per the installinstallation instructions.
Step 1: Sign in to My Esri with your Esri account that is associated with your customer number and download the new ArcGIS GeoBIM version 11.2.1 to a location other than the installation folder.
Step 2: Follow the instructions for Windows and Linux on Setup ArcGIS GeoBIM.
Note: The geoprocessing service does not need to be updated.
How to identify which ArcGIS products are installed
To identify what version of ArcGIS for GeoBIM that’s currently deployed on ArcGIS Enterprise, access: Control Panel (If using Windows) or run “run “apt list –installed”” (If using Linux) to receive a list of installed programs and their versions. Use this to verify that the new version has been installed.
