ArcGIS GeoEvent Server 10.8.1 Patch 5 (Windows, Linux)
Summary
Description
This is a cumulative patch that incorporates all previously released ArcGIS GeoEvent Server 10.8.1 Patches and Hot Fixes. See the Enhancements and Issues Addressed section below for a complete list of updates.
- You must clear the browser cache after this patch is installed to properly load the updated GeoEvent Manager User Interface.
- ArcGIS GeoEvent Server 10.8.1 must be installed before you can install this patch.
- It is recommended to create a backup of your GeoEvent Server configuration prior to installation of the patch.
- ArcGIS GeoEvent Server Patches cannot be uninstalled. To roll back a patch requires a fresh install of GeoEvent Server.
Enhancements and Issues Addressed with this Patch
- BUG-000148632 - When rebooting a Windows Server machine with ArcGIS GeoEvent Server installed, ArcGIS GeoEvent Manager may become inaccessible.
- BUG-000145527 - ArcGIS GeoEvent Server exposes a used WebServer name and version on an invalid request.
- To avoid conflicts with previous releases and patches, the following issues are also addressed with this patch:
- BUG-000144488 - Following a reboot GeoEvent Gateway will periodically fail to restart in an operational state.
- BUG-000145348 - Update GeoEvent Server to replace unpatched Log4j libraries.
- BUG-000146645 - GeoEvent Server loses connection with the GeoEvent Gateway causing GeoEvent Services and Outputs to stop functioning correctly.
- BUG-000147023 - GeoEvent restart stability with custom components.
- BUG-000143024 - Stream Service Store Latest Fails when Maximum Age property is not zero.
- BUG-000141758 - The stream service outbound transport incorrectly warns of a schema mismatch when updating Store Latest feature records in a spatiotemporal big data store.
- BUG-000141188 - An element's selected feature service displays incorrectly when editing a configured input, output, or processor in a GeoEvent Service.
- BUG-000141759 - Server connections to an ArcGIS Online organization initially attempt to connect over HTTP when HTTPS is required.
- BUG-000141761 - Filter expressions cannot be configured with internal event record properties.
- BUG-000110727 - Users with insufficient privilege are logged out with a message Session has expired. when attempting to access Administrative operations in GeoEvent Manager.
- BUG-000139249 - ArcGIS GeoEvent Server has a Directory Traversal security vulnerability.
- BUG-000131593 - A hosted feature service's identifier should be preserved when changes to the service's properties are published.
- BUG-000131860 - Value for inbound adapter's SpatialReferenceField property is not populated when importing an XML snapshot of a GeoEvent Server configuration.
- BUG-000131803 - Expected date format is ignored when inbound event data has a string of digits.
- BUG-000133699 - Initial startup and restart issues between the GeoEvent Gateway and GeoEvent Server prevent the Manager application from loading correctly.
- BUG-000138583 - GeoEvent Manager panels are not listing hosted services alphabetically as they are listed in the REST Services Directory.
- BUG-000138585 - Feature service publication fails in a non-federated environment when creating a new BDS Data Source.
- BUG-000100984 - The GeoEvent Text Adapter fails to parse certain Latin characters.
- BUG-000131776 - Send an Email output does not handle complete set of UTF-8 characters.
- BUG-000132926 - Sampler and Event Viewer(map) popup cannot show the multibyte language strings correctly.
- BUG-000132928 - GeoTagger Processor does not allow writing to existing fields when using Enter or Exit operations.
- BUG-000132930 - GeoEvent Sampler label strings are incorrectly displayed for supported non-English languages.
- BUG-000132931 - Sampler displays prettified JSON data universally as String when attributes are numeric.
Installation Instructions for Windows
- Note: Any changes made to the configuration or property files in
GeoEvent/etc
orGeoEvent/gateway/etc
will need to be reapplied to the new files after the patch is installed. The patch will overwrite the files in these locations.
- Login with an Administrator Windows account.
- Download the patch to a location other than your ArcGIS installation location.
Patch GeoEvent_10_8_1_Patch5.msp Checksum (SHA256) C7CF8C9D1D6EFFD181B5F174D6474EDD5EC2988E3C0177CA976748CDD1CF44AA - Double-click the .msp to start the install.
Note: If double clicking on the MSP file does not start the setup installation, you can start the setup installation manually by using the following command:
msiexec.exe /p <location of patch>\GeoEvent_10_8_1_Patch5.msp
- Open the GeoEvent Manager to ensure your inputs, outputs, and GeoEvent Services have been started. If they are not, restart them in the GeoEvent Manager.
Installation Instructions for Linux
- Note: Any changes made to the configuration or property files in

- Log in as the user that installed ArcGIS Server.
Note: For the Amazon AMI this is the user arcgis. - Download the patch to a location other than your ArcGIS installation location.
Patch GeoEvent-10.8.1-Patch5.tar.gz Checksum (SHA256) 66EB3B5C27FBCDB6E3521E7BCF28880CD43FA89027A51B7615325CF552F742DB - Extract the package:
% tar -xzvf GeoEvent-10.8.1-Patch5.tar.gz
- Stop the GeoEvent daemon services.
- Start the installation and wait for it to complete:
% ./GeoEvent/Patch.sh
- Delete the contents of the GeoEvent Server data folder.
% rm -rf /GeoEvent/data/*
- After the setup is complete, restart the GeoEvent daemon services.
- Open the GeoEvent Manager to ensure your inputs, outputs, and GeoEvent Services have been started. If they are not, restart them in the GeoEvent Manager.

How to identify which ArcGIS products are installed
To determine which ArcGIS products are installed, choose the appropriate version of the PatchFinder utility for your environment and run it from your local machine. PatchFinder will list products, hot fixes, and patches installed on your local machine.
To determine which version of ArcGIS GeoEvent Server is installed append /version.txt
to the GeoEvent Manager URL. For example:
https://localhost:6143/geoevent/manager/version.txt
