ArcGIS Server Orphaned Processes Patch

Published: June 28, 2021

This patch resolves an issue that leaves processes orphaned during shutdown and other system operations.

EsriĀ® announces the ArcGIS Server Orphaned Processes Patch. This patch resolves an issue that can sometimes cause ArcGIS Server processes to be left orphaned or hanging on Windows operating systems during shutdown or other system operations including upgrades, and patching. This can lead to unnecessary memory usage among other things. Esri recommends that all customers using ArcGIS Server 10.8.1 and 10.9 on Windows operating systems apply this patch. It deals specifically with the issues listed below under Issues Addressed with this patch.

Esri recommends that you install the patch for each product that is on your system.

  1. Download the appropriate file to a location other than your ArcGIS installation location.
