Description

EsriĀ® announces the ArcGIS Data Store 10.9 Reliability Enhancement Patch. This patch addresses reliability and availability issues with the relational, tile cache, and spatiotemporal big data stores. It improves consistency in the configuration of all data store types, improves reliability and data accuracy with upgrades for the spatiotemporal data store, and reliability for high availability configurations for the tile cache data store. It deals specifically with the issues listed below under Issues Addressed with this patch.

Issues Addressed with this patch

  • BUG-000139644 - Correct allocation when shrinking is enabled on data sources.
  • BUG-000139643 - Improve the process of validating permissions on directories during data store configuration.
  • BUG-000139642 - The listbackups command utility fails to display backups when run on machines other than the coordinator node.
  • BUG-000139641 - The tile cache data store does not fail over consistently.
  • BUG-000139639 - GeoEvent map services do not render correctly after upgrading from 10.8.1 when using hexagon or square aggregation.

Installing this patch on Windows

Installation Steps:

ArcGIS Data Store 10.9 must be installed before installing this patch. All command utilities must be run on the ArcGIS Data Store machine.

  1. Before installing the patch, use the backupdatastore command utility to make a backup of the relational, tile cache, and spatiotemporal big data stores.
  2. Download the appropriate file to a location other than your ArcGIS installation location.

    ArcGIS 10.9

    ArcGIS Data Store ArcGIS-109-DS-RE-Patch.msp
         Checksum
         (SHA256)

  3. Make sure you have write access to your ArcGIS installation location.
  4.  For the relational and tile cache data stores, configured in primary standby mode apply the patch on the primary data store machine first, followed by the standby. For the spatiotemporal big data store, and tile cache data store configured in cluster mode, order does not matter.
  5. Double-click ArcGIS-109-DS-RE-Patch.msp to start, and click Update to finish the setup process.
  6. Once the setup process finishes on the primary data store, double-click ArcGIS-109-DS-RE-Patch.msp to start, and click Update to finish the setup process on the standby machine, and other machines in the cluster in the case of the spatiotemporal big data store.
  7. For single-machine ArcGIS Data Store installations, double-click ArcGIS-109-DS-RE-Patch.msp to start and click Update to finish the setup process.

NOTE: If double clicking on the MSP file does not start the setup installation, you can start the setup installation using the following command:

    msiexec.exe /p [location of Patch]\ ArcGIS-109-DS-RE-Patch.msp

  8. If you have GeoEvent map services and have already upgraded to ArcGIS Data Store 10.9 prior to applying the ArcGIS Data Store 10.9 Reliability Enhancement Patch, follow these additional steps on the spatiotemporal big data store to correct rendering issues specific to GeoEvent map services.

    1. Use the listdatasources utility found in the ArcGIS Data Store tools directory to list data sources associated with GeoEvent map services.
       listdatasources.bat

    2. Run the upgradedatasource utility and pass in the names found from listdatasources to correct the GeoEvent map service rendering issues.
       upgradedatasource.bat [datasource-name]
