ArcInfo Workstation Patch for Windows XP
Summary
Description
ESRI® is pleased to announce the ArcInfo Workstation 8.1.2 Windows® XP Patch. This patch repairs an AML error message that is displayed upon starting ArcInfo Workstation 8.1.2 on a Windows XP machine. This error does not occur on other Windows environments. For a detailed description of the error, see Bugs Fixed with this Patch.
Hardware Environment
During installation, you can either save the original 8.1.2 file or overwrite it. If you choose to save it, make sure you have enough disk space. The estimated disk space requirements are:

NOTE: The new arc.exe is dated 3/5/2002.
Installing the Patch
Since this patch replaces an ArcInfo Workstation 8.1.2 file, ArcInfo Workstation 8.1.2 must be installed before you can install this patch.
- Download XPpatch.ZIP (1.9MB).
- Use WinZip to extract XPpatch.exe from XPpatch.ZIP.
- Make sure you have write access to the ArcInfo Workstation installation folder and that no one is using ArcInfo Workstation.
- Double-click XPpatch.exe to start the install process.
- When Setup starts, follow the instructions on your screen.
NOTE: This patch must be installed on the server and all client installations if shared installations exist.
