Patches and updates
ArcInfo/ArcSDE Patch 1
Summary
Description
ESRI® is pleased to announce the latest patch for ArcInfoTM and ArcSDETM 8.0.2. If you are using 8.0.2, we recommend you install this Patch that repairs a variety of problems identified in ArcInfo and ArcSDE 8.0.2 across all supported platforms. This Patch also includes all the bug fixes from the Compress Patch 802-17ds.
Since this Patch replaces several 8.0.2 files, you must have ArcInfo or ArcSDE 8.0.2 installed and running before you can install this Patch. For the same reason, you should install it while no one is using the ArcInfo or ArcSDE software.
Hardware environment
During installation, you can either save the original 8.0.2 files or overwrite them. If you choose to save them, make sure you have enough disk space. The following tables show the estimated disk space requirements.

Bugs fixed with this patch
ArcInfo Workstation:
AML:
CQ00108431 - Calc with Fractional Exponents gives erroneous error, e.g. [CALCULATE 2 ** 0.5]
CQ00110012 - [CALCULATE] errors on exponentiation of a negative number, e.g. [CALC -2 ** 2]
ARC:
CQ00108283 - GENERALIZE produces linecrossing & collapsed polygons
CQ00109628 - GENERALIZE: needs to reduce weedtol gradually in resolving conflicts
CQ00111127 - GENERALIZE - bendsimplify returns some unsimplified arcs on SUN
CQ00112181 - GENERALIZE: moves some labels to outside polygons
CQ00112188 - GENERALIZE - needs a better way to pass intersection info
CQ00113307 - GENERALIZE still causes label errors
ARCEDIT:
CQ00074758 - SELECT on EF section with a RELATE is slower after 7.0.4
CQ00093745 - DRAG or MOVE causes SETARROW to shift when in MULTIPLESELECT
CQ00105808 -[SHOW EDIT BUILTPOLY] returns incorrect value after multiple 'oops'
CQ00106356 - Quitting AE and AP, Bailing out of XXX, Program failed to start or was killed
ARCPLOT:
CQ00093194 - NT ARCTEXT 721p2 text horizontal with LINE option, should be splined
CQ00112156 - TrueType fonts default to space 1752 (enspace)
- Example entry:
- TRUETYPE 67777 $ARCHOME/fonts/Example.ttf 67777
- TRUETYPE Example
- TRUETYPE 'Example Condensed'
- NAME = Example
- FAMILY = Example Fonts
- STYLE = Condensed
- NOTE: TrueType fonts ignore the space character as defined in the codeset file. They are always rendered using an enspace. This behavior is not desirable if the font being used is of a condensed typeset. To work around this problem the keyword Condensed has been added to the Style setting for TrueType font entries in the Fontindex file. This will cause all spaces for the font to be displayed as a thinspace. This setting is only valid for TrueType fonts, it will not change the way Intellifont or PostScript fonts are rendered.
